Could this true observation be something bringing our a point lost in translation? Not speaking Japanese, I’m often clueless as to why the titles written in “Japanese English” come out like they do. . . But I think there are roughly as many words for wife in Japanese as there are for snow for the Inuits. . . Either way, the uncle/uncle’s older brother didn’t turn out to be very much older at all.
Yep. At least 2 separate words for uncle in Japanese because they specify older/younger. Twice as many as that in Chinese and Korean because they also specify maternal/paternal siblings on top of the older/younger thing. Annoying thing to learn
